05. Christ-Centered Phonics Lessons for Cards 1-31: Level B:1

Beginning-to-Read Program

Recommended For:

  • Older 4’s (AK4)
  • 5-year-olds (K5)
  • Beginning 1st---first time being schooled (B1st)

Note: K5 and Beginning 1st grade students have traditionally excelled in this Beginning-to-Read Program. Because older 4's are generally more mature in their readiness to learn, they are considered an Advanced K4 and thus will normally do better with Kit B rather than A. (Level A is not a prerequisite for starting Level B.)

For the BEST RESULTS! Order the full Phonics Kit B (Part 002) which contains all you need to teach Levels B:1 and B:2.

Skills Covered at Phonics Level B:1:

  • Short Vowels
  • Long Vowels
  • Consonants
  • Blends (a single consonant blended with a vowel to form one speech sound)
  • Reading One-Syllable Words
  • Spelling Short-Vowel Words
  • Manuscript Penmanship

Description of Phonics Lessons B:1:

Every lesson was written so that even a novice teacher can be successful. After teaching a lesson, refer to the Phonics Workbook Instructions & Answer Key: Level B:1 (Part 205AK) to help your child complete the Phonics Workbook: Level B:1 (Part 205) pages listed in that lesson's PACING SCHEDULE.

Teaching Phonics Level B:1:

SPECIAL TREAT: The Introduction to Phonics Lessons for Flashcards 1-31: Level B:1 provides some helpful insights concerning how children learn (and remember) best. Understanding the following can therefore make your lessons even more fruitful and enjoyable:

  • The Four Personality Types & Their Learning Styles

  • The Three Learning Modalities

  • Customizing the Christ-Centered Phonics Program

  • Meeting the Special Needs of Large Families

Note to Phonics Edition 1 Users: The original Phonics Lessons for Flashcards 1-31 and Instructions/Answer Key B:1 are compatible with the current Phonics Workbook B:1 (Part 205)--just skip the Short Aa through Long Uu review pages at the end.

Pacing Suggestions:

Levels B:1 and B:2 are usually completed within a typical school year. However, if you start an Advanced 4 on Level B, simply teach in sequence at a pace that best fits your child's needs.
